Sore
Throat Compress
Especially
for children a sore throat compress is often very useful. Usually after
one
or two treatments the sore throat has gone. If your child can not bear
the throat compress, I suggest giving homeopathic
remedies.
You
may use compresses beside other home remedies.
Hot Lemon
Compress:
cures mild sore throat.
- Take
a lemon
and squeeze the juice
- Dilute with equal amount of
hot water
- Soak a linen or cotton cloth (in the size
of a neck) in the hot lemon solution
- Wring out the
cloth strongly
- Place the cloth as hot as bearable
around the neck
- Fasten with a woolen scarf
- Leave
it on for 10 minutes
- After removing the compress
keep you throat warm
Cold Lemon
Compress:
helps for the beginning of a serious sore throat, strep throat with
high
fever.
- Take
a lemon (organic if possible) and squeeze the juice
- Dilute
with equal amount of cold water
- Soak a linen or
cotton cloth (neck size) in the cold lemon solution
- Wring
out the cloth
- Grease your skin with olive oil on
the neck
- Apply the cold lemon cloth around the
neck, but leave the spine area free (as shown on the picture above)
- Fasten
with a woolen scarf tightly
- Leave it on for 1 hour
- Remove
if your skin gets itchy
- After removing keep your
throat warm
May be the most
effective throat
compress is the:
cottage-cheese
poultice
helps for very acute, severe, painful swollen
sore throat:
- Take
a thin, larger cotton cloth and 200-300g cottage-cheese
- Spread
the cottage-cheese on the middle of the cloth and make a small bag as
shown on the picture below
- Warm the cottage-cheese
bag with a hair drier or on the radiator
- Apply it
to the neck and leave the spine area free
- Fasten
first with a cotton scarf and with a thick woolen scarf afterwards
- Leave
it on for 3-4 hours until the cottage-cheese dries up
- After
removing keep your throat warm
Can be repeated
daily if it helps.
Do not use cottage-cheese
poultice, if you are allergic to cow's milk.
Compresses
can be used as a
complementary treatment beside any kind of other medication or home
remedy.
